Title: Chimeric antisense oligonucleotides of arabinofuranose analogue and deoxyribose nucleotides
Usefulness: Chimeric antisense oligonucleotides of arabinofuranose analogue and deoxyribose nucleotides
Summary: (I) is useful for cleaving single stranded RNA, by hybridizing (I) in a sequence-specific manner to a single stranded RNA to induce RNase H activity, and allowing the induced RNase H to cleave the hybridized single stranded RNA. (I) is also useful to prevent translation of single stranded RNA, by hybridizing (I) in a sequence specific manner, to a single stranded RNA, and thus preventing the production of specific protein encoded by the single stranded RNA. (I) is also useful in the preparation of a medicament for cleaving single stranded RNA, e.g. complementary RNA including cellular mRNA or viral RNA. (I) is also useful in the preparation of a probe or laboratory reagent for cleaving single stranded RNA. (All claimed). (I) is useful as a model of antisense oligonucleotide agents, and serves as therapeutics and/or valuable tools for studying and controlling gene expression in cells and organisms.
Novelty: Novel oligonucleotide chimera to selectively prevent gene expression in a sequence-specific manner, comprising a chimera of modified arabinose and 2'-deoxy sugars hybridizing to a single stranded RNA
