Low Temperature Ammonia Remediation Catalysts低溫氨氣分解催化劑

Summary

Ammonia (NH3) and odorous smell (nitrogen containing compounds) in the air are contaminants and are harmful to human health. Since more and more people concern for the indoor air quality after the outbreak of SARS, methods have been developed to eliminate the contaminants.

Conventional supported metal oxide catalysts usually have a low catalytic activity at low temperature. Another disadvantage is that it is of high metal oxide loading, formation of by-products. In addition, high temperature (>250'C) is also required for efficient degradation.

A new nano-structure catalyst having a larger surface area is introduced. The new catalyst can effectively remove ammonia and nitrogen containing compounds at low temperature and in the absence of UV illumination. It provides a catalytic material including a metal oxide catalyst that forms monomer or polymer on the support surface, yet preventing the formation of metal oxide clusters on support surface. The present invention is stable and active even at low temperature. It can also tolerate a higher concentration of pollutants.

The invention can be used in air purifier and air handling appliances such as fan, air conditioner and air exhaust, etc.

Technology Benefits

1. Actively remove odor at low temperature
2. A compact prototype air remediation unit
3. Production cost is low

Technology Application

- Air purifier
- Air handling appliances such as fan, air conditioner and air exhaust, etc
