- Summary
- Disclosed is a stem cell sheet for tissue repair and in vitro tissue engineering. The stem cell sheet comprises treated stem cells embedded in their self-secreted extracellular matrix (ECM) and formed an elastic cell sheet. The stem cell sheet is formed by isolating the stem cells, expanding the stem cells and treating the stem cells with biological factors or factors leading to the production of biological factors, to induce their differentiation, production of extracellular matrix and form an elastic cell sheet in vitro. The stem cell sheet is used as a bioactive material or as an acellular material for the promotion of tissue repair or used to form a bio-artificial organ for tissue replacement.

Summary: The cell sheet is useful for treating disease or condition of tendons, ligament, bone, cartilage, muscle and skin of subject in need of tissue repair. The diseases of tendon and ligament are window injury of patellar tendon after removal of patellar bone-patellar tendon-bone graft in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), tendon rupture, ligament rupture, rotator cuff injury and tendinopathy reconstruction. The bone condition is bone fracture. The cartilage condition is osteoarthritis or osteochondral defect. The muscle condition is muscle tear. The skin condition is wound or burn (all claimed). Can also be used in forming bio-artificial organ for tissue replacement.
