Novel Markers for Prenatal Diagnosis and Monitoring
- Summary
- Non-invasive prenatal diagnostic and monitoring strategies could be developed based on the detection of fetal DNA in the maternal circulation. However, conventional fetal DNA markers are based on genetic differences between the fetus and the mother. Such markers are informative and only applicable to a proportion of pregnancies. We have developed a panel of fetal-specific markers that are independent of fetal gender and genotype. These novel markers can be applied to the non-invasive prenatal diagnosis and monitoring of pregnancy-associated disorders in all pregnancies.
