Methods for Noninvasive Prenatal Diagnosis
- Summary
- Prenatal diagnosis is important for early detection of birth defects such that appropriate prenatal care could be arranged. The existing methods for definitive prenatal diagnosis involve invasive procedures and pose a risk of fetal loss. Noninvasive prenatal diagnostic methods have been developed, but most of them are not sensitive enough to detect fetal diseases at early gestation. A new strategy and new stbiomarkers have been developed for detection of fetal diseases at as early as the 1 trimester of pregnancy.
