Simple order-16 Integer Transform from SMPTE421M order-8 ICT
- Summary
- This invention generates an order-16 integer transform by expanding order-8 Integer Cosine Transform ICT(16,15,9,4;16,6;12) which is adopted by video coding standard SMPTE 421M. The new order-16 transform generated from this order-8 ICT has low-complexity and high energy-packing ability and so is useful for video and image coding. Its computation requirement is only slightly more than the order-8 ICT because it can be computed efficiently using fast algorithms designed for the order-8 ICT. Also, the transform coefficients of the order-16 transform can be quantized using a quantization process similar to that for the order-8 ICT.
