Uses of dl-THP

Summary
dl-THP (dl-tetrahydropalinatine) was only marketed as an herbal supplement or sleeping pill. However, a novel use of dl-THP is available now.

The present invention succeeds in identifying a previously unsuggested binding partner for dl-THP, namely the BDZ (benzodiazepine) binding site of the GABAA receptor. A method of manufacture of a composition (eg. A medicament) for the treatment of CNS (central nervous system) disorders, including the treatment of anxiety and seizures, the composition comprising dl-THP is provided.

Thus, the uses of dl-THP could be expanded and developed into sedative-tranquilizing, anticonvulsant or myorelaxant agents for the treatment of CNS disorders.
Technology Benefits
1. New usage of dl-THP
2. Low toxicity
Technology Application
- Potential drugs for the treatment of central nervous system disorders or memory impairment
- Potential anxiolytic, anti-convulsantor sedative-hypustic drugs
