- *Abstract
-
When researching genome instability can arise as a result of mistakes occurring during inappropriate hybridization of RNA to its DNA template, UC Berkeley researchers discovered that use of a Rad51 protein could increase the efficiency of Cas9-mediated target DNA modification. The Rad51p helped to join stretches of nucleic acids together to repair breaks in DNA by enhancing the binding of Cas9 polypeptide and guide RNA complex to the target DNA.
