Collagen-Mimetic Peptide Mediated Delivery of DNA Carriers for Efficient Delivery From Collagen
- Detailed Technology Description
- Researchers at the University ofDelaware have devised aninnovative and novel method of amplifying the magnitude and duration of transgeneexpression. This method uses the collagen mimetic peptide (CMP) mediateddelivery of non-viral DNA from collagen containing scaffolds. The compositionof the polyplex used is variable, allowing customized release of the contents. CMP – modification has proven to increase thetransgene expression for 10 fold longer duration. The CMP-polyplex-collagencomplex augments the collagen activity in invitro wound models and increase platelet derived growth factor BBexpression for enhanced wound closure rates. These properties make thescaffolds a promising tool in regenerative healing.
