Information Impact Assessment Method
All industries that utilize electronic knowledge resources can benefit from user feedback collected via this assessment method. There are no similar tools available. Other tools are too simplistic (Impact: Y/N) or too time-consuming to be used in real-world settings. Additionally, no published studies have systematically assessed the cognitive impact of CIRT-CDSS-CCMC information hits on health professionals in daily practice. In addition to healthcare information providers, other industries that utilize electronic knowledge resources could benefit from user feedback collected via this systematic assessment method. For instance, this tool adds value when deployed by companies in support of their marketing efforts. BENEFITSSystematic Assessment: By momentarily recording the cognitive-behavioral impact of CIRT-CDSS-CCMC information hits on health professionals, this technology uniquely and systematically assesses impact (including e-learning) on the job; Quantitative and Qualitative Assessment: The method evaluates CIRT-CDSS-CCMC information hits using a 10-item scale, and a free-text box; Flexibility: Electronic information resources, regardless of type (e.g. Information Retrieval Technology, Computer Mediated Communication, or Decision Support Systems) or platform (e.g. PDA, desktop, laptop, or Internet) can be assessed; Resource Improvement: The method enhances feedback by engaging the user. Analysis of feedback results allows information providers to improve / validate their content based on user feedback; Understanding Information-Seeking Behaviors Analysis of feedback results provides valuable information on users information-seeking behavior.
