Verification of tick-borne encephalitis virus inhibition by some natural compounds
- Summary
- Preparation for treatment and prophylaxis of infections caused by flaviviruses, primarily by tick-borne encephalitis virus.
- Detailed Technology Description
- The solution relates to verifying the effect of three studied stilbenes on the replication of the tick-borne encephalitis virus in vitro and in vivo; the effects of the stilbenes in combination with interferon were verified in vivo as well. A prophylactic effect was shown primarily for the combinations of stilbenes with interferon. We plan to verify the effect of the studied molecules with and without interferon at longer time intervals from the onset of infection (+/- 1 day was studied up to now). Ideal target is a pharmaceutical company producing antivirals in general, or human interferons. For such a company, our results will represent an increased effect of the interferon therapy (which is still not used widely) or a new possibility for production of antivirotics targeting tick-borne encephalitis virus and other Flaviviruses.
