Live Cell Conjugation Chemistry for Imaging, Sensing, Biomanufacturing, and Cell Therapy
Researchers at Purdue University have developed a new technology that improves the ability to have live cell imaging. This also allows for biomanufacturing enhancement of cells for therapeutic applications, enhanced killing of cancer cells for cell-drug conjugation, and drug delivery in a pH dependent manner to sites of inflammation. This technology is used to functionalize small molecules, proteins, florophores, and PET tracers. It does not use nanoparticles or other vehicles. This allows for the conjugating cell membranes without killing cells. This new technology has the potential to change how surface modification of live cells.
