Consumption of alcohol by nursing mothers has been shown to negatively affect infant’s growth and development, due to alcohol toxicity. Therefore, new mothers are commonly asked to refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages to protect their infants from the effects of alcohol. There is currently no option for new mothers to both nurse their babies and consume alcoholic beverages. The current UCI invention removes alcohol from pumped breast milk. The device is compact and easy to use.
