Spectral-Tagging Technique for Improving Resolution of Dynamic Echo-Planar Imaging

Detailed Technology Description

Title: Spectral-Tagging Technique for Improving Resolution and Acquisition time of Dynamic Echo-Planar Imaging  Invention: The invention is a spectral-tagging method that allows for 3X faster speed of acquisition witn improved resolution of the targeted physiology. The invention improves upon echo-planar imaging by band-pass filtering different signals to reconstruct a specific spectral peak, resulting in high quality images without aliasing artifacts from multi-band echo-planar imaging signals. Background: Echo-planar imaging is the most wildly used pulse sequence for dynamic magnetic resonance imaging. The drawback with this process is that conventional protocols result in artifacts, multi-band imaging is not feasible for in-plane parallel imaging, and simultaneous echo refocusing results in compromised spatial-resolution and accuracy when used with multi-band imaging. Therefore there is a need for improved echo-planar imaging spatial-temporal resolution for accurately capturing physiology. Applications:Healthcare MRI equipmentSpace explorationOptics Advantages:Produces high quality images where conventional echo-planar imaging protocols are limitedThe method is compatible with and can be integrated into conventional echo-planar imaging protocolsShorter readout acquisition window and echo-spacing time Licensing Manager:Bob SleeperRobertS@tla.arizona.edu(520) 626-4604
