Detailed Technology Description
Transparent conductive electrodes (TCEs) are beneficial for use in a wide range of optical and optoelectronic devices, such as solar cells and digital displays. Such technologies require at least one transparent electrode to receive energy from the sun (in the case of solar cells) or to enable the user to see what is being displayed (in the case of optoelectronics). The most common material used for TCEs—indium tin oxide (ITO)—meets this need, but is expensive. In addition, ITO's rigidity makes it unsuitable for emerging industries such as wearable electronics, which require flexible TCEs.
