A Novel Polyisoprenylated Tetracyclic Xanthone with Anticancer Activity
this invention relates to a novel extract of Garcinia esculenta were found to show cytotoxicity against human cancer cells
Exhibiting cytotoxicity and antimigration effect against the tested human cancer cell lines.
This novel compound may have potential to be developed as anticancer drug.
A novel polyisoprenylated tetracyclic xanthone, named garciesculentone B, was isolated from the petroleum ether extract of the 80% (v/v) EtOH extract of Garcinia esculenta. The structure of new compound was elucidated by extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic analyses and mass spectrometry. This new compound showed significant cytotoxicity against SMMC-7721 cells with IC50 value of 11.8 μΜ. In addition, garciesculentone B showed antimigration effect on ECA109 cells by wound healing assay.
