Summary
琉球群島為太平洋西側島嶼群，也是日本國土最南端的行政區，位置介於台灣與日本九州之間，西元2000年「琉球王國的王城遺址及相關遺跡」申遺成功，是日本國內第十一個登錄為世界遺產的地方（含自然遺產，2012年底以前日本共有十六處世界遺產）。此遺址群一共包含了九個指定點，分別為五個Gusuku（石城）一首里城跡、中城城跡、勝連城跡、座喜味城跡、今歸仁城跡，以及玉陵、園比屋武御嶽石門、齋場御嶽和識名園遺址。
