Silence-based Adaptive Real-time Voice and Video Transmission Methods and System
This invention relates in general to real-time voice and video communication over the Internet, and in particular, to systems for managing the voice and video streams when conversational speech patterns are considered. A SAVV client and corresponding SAVV algorithms are proposed. The SAVV client can detect the activity of the voice stream, and aggressively transmit the video frames if silence in the sending or receiving voice stream has been detected. It can also adaptively generate and transmit key frames of the video stream according to the characteristics of conversational speech.
