Automatic Engine Stop/Start System for ICE Vehicle with Automatic Transmission


Summary

The present invention provides method and apparatus for automatically stopping and starting the engine of the gasoline and diesel vehicles by receiving the signals from different detectors with the aim to reduce the fuel consumption and emission. This ISS system, named “iStarter System”, is controlled by an intelligent starter controller (ISC) installed externally for after market adoption, which monitoring the vehicle speed, engine rotational speed, the state of actuation of the acceleration pedal, the brake pedal and the auxiliary components like air conditioner, the state of shift level, the state of charge (SOC) of the battery and the emission gas temperature. The system developed is cost-effective, feasible for large scaled production and promotion in aftermarket. The control logic can also distinguish the scenarios that the driver intends to stop the vehicle for a considerably long time, and the cases that the driver only wants to stop for a short and unpredictable period.
