Locktography Encryption Apparatus and Method

- Researchers at Purdue University have developed Locktography, a suite of techniques to secretly transmit data through the digital watermarking of images. The advantage of Locktography is that traditional methods of encryption, with their inherent limitations and regulations, are no longer needed to securely exchange sensitive data. It can also be used in combination with traditional encryption to provide more secure and easily useable data transmission tools.

- Traditional cryptography has been used to securely transmit data (text, cryptograph keys, etc.) for many years. Digital watermarking is a new technology that enables an owner of an image to embed an invisible structure in the image that uniquely identifies the owner, and perhaps additional information such as time of creation.
