Synthetic and Syntrophic Co-Culture of Acetogens and Solventogens to Maximize Solvent Production Via Mixotrophy
- Detailed Technology Description
- Researchers at University of Delaware have designed anovel co-culture of Acetogens and Solventogens to utilize the metaboliccapability of the production of biofuels via mixotrophy. These organisms fromthe Clostridium genus can utilizedifferent sugar substrates to produce butanol, acetone and ethanol; andsequester the CO2 produced during fermentation. In this co-culture,the excess acetate is converted to more solvents.
