A User Recommendation Algorithm for Reciprocal and Bipartite Social Networks
- Detailed Technology Description
- This algorithm examines users' previous activities and infer users''taste' in picking others and 'attractiveness' to others, which the algorithmuses to come up with a recommendation of who a user will be interested in andwho will be interested in the user.
- *Abstract
-
This is a collaborative filtering algorithm for user recommendation in social networks that are bipartite and reciprocal. A bipartite social network is one that has two types of users and links cannot exist between two users of the same type (e.g., men vs women in heterosexual dating, job seekers vs employers in recruiting). Reciprocity means that a link between two users can only be established when both nodes agree to be connected (e.g., dating and job hunting). This algorithm examines users' previous activities and infer users' 'taste' in picking others and 'attractiveness' in being picked by others.
