Upper Arm Wearable Exoskeleton
- Detailed Technology Description
- This technology is a light weight, portable, and extendedwear, upper arm exoskeleton. Inthe last ten years, a number of upper-arm training devices have emerged, however, due to their size and weight, their use has been restricted. We havedesigned a wire-driven wearable upper arm exoskeleton that can be used toassist and train arm movements of stroke survivors or subjects with weakmusculature. Thereare 4.4 million stroke survivors alive today - up to half of them are totallyor partially dependent on others to help them with daily activities. More than60% of those who have experienced stroke, serious injury, or a disablingdisease have never received rehabilitation.
