Graphene-Based Frequency Tripler
- Summary
- Researchers at Purdue University have developed a graphene-based frequency tripler with an experimentally achieved spectral output purity that is greater than 70 percent, which is an improvement by a factor of 5 over current tripler technology. Graphene is an ideal material to use in this application because of its high carrier mobility. The proposed technology addresses the output power at third harmonic with current triplers where there is poor output spectral purity, while allowing for signal amplification for conversion gain in a scaled device. Equally as important, this new technology can be easily integrated into the current graphene electronic components market.
