- *Abstract
-
Northwestern researchers have created improved peptide amphiphiles bearing the laminin sequence IKVAV that promote neurite outgrowth. Synthesis and purification of these peptide amphiphiles is easier than with previous methods. In addition, these peptides are more soluble in salt solutions that mimic human extracellular fluids. Previous, similar amphiphiles demonstrated the ability to differentiate neuronal progenitors into neurons, promote neurite outgrowth, and reduce differentiation into astrocytes.
