Delivery of hydrophobic drugs has always been challenging. In prior art, many approaches have been used in this regard. Some of the most common ones involve the use of co-solvents, surfectants, complexing or solubilising agents, and micellar systems such as liposomes. However, these approaches are associated with potential limitations such as system toxicity in case of surfectants/co-solvents, and lesser stability, low sterility, and low scale commercial production in case of liposomes. Some of the nanoemulsion compositions requiring mechanical pumps have further been used. Such compositions have limited applications with respect to parenteral delivery and blood brain barrier. This approach discloses a novel nanoemulsion based delivery system for efficient delivery of hydrophobic drugs or diagnostic agents.
