Recruitment of the immune system can be a powerful tool in the treatment of cancer and infectious disease. Investigators at the University of Pittsburgh have identified a combination of cytokines that are particularly useful in causing a signaling cascade which results in dendritic and effector cells being attracted to a specific area of the body. This combination could have utility as an adjuvant in preventative vaccines for infectious diseases or as a disease treatment.Application* Treatment of cancer, including peritoneal and pleural cancers, solid tumors and lymphomas and leukemias* Preventative cancer vaccination* Treatment of prolonged and chronic infections including viral, bacterial, fungal, and protozoan infections* Enhancing the effectiveness of preventive vaccines against viruses bacteria, and other microorganismsProvisional Patent Application filed
