本發明公開了一種不失真編碼及譯碼計算機的桌面圖像的方法。在編碼的過程中，先擷取計算機的第一桌面圖像及第二桌面圖像。之後，比較第二桌面圖像的多個像素與第一桌面圖像的多個像素之間的差異，並依據上述比較的結果，建立索引數據串。最後，再存儲第一桌面圖像的所有像素的像素值以及索引數據串。在譯碼的過程中，則根據索引數據串以及第一桌面圖像的所有像素的像素值還原該第二桌面圖像。因透過索引數據串記錄第二桌面圖像中的哪些像素不同於第一桌面圖像的像素，故可不須記錄第二桌面圖像所有像素的像素值，而可在不失真情況下，減少總數據量，而避免數據量過大。
