- The potential of programming genetic responses “at will” using this approach offers a multitude of applications in bioengineering, biomedicine, molecular agriculture, and other fields that benefit from manipulation of gene expression. For instance, it can be designed to detect specific gene expression patterns associated with hazardous, defective, degenerative, enhancing, or regenerative factors in organisms ranging from bacteria to humans, and thereby allowing the targeted expression of genes for reporting or therapeutic purposes.
