D-ribbed tube heat exchanger with reduced tendency to slip
- Summary
- With plain tube heat exchangers, flow separations can occur which stimulate the pipes to ski. This in turn leads to material fatigue. By attaching 120 degrees offset triangular ribs, which extend in the longitudinal direction of the tubes, the detachment points can be fixed symmetrically on the tube backs. As a result, symmetrical recirculation zones with stable pressure distributions form behind the pipes.
