在資料保密系統中，電子裝置需判斷下列條件皆成立才執行開機或喚醒程序：(1)電子裝置插入至少一外部儲存裝置；(2)使用者輸入之密碼符合電子裝置目前插入外部儲存裝置內存之密碼；(3)電子裝置目前插入外部儲存裝置內存之標記符合電子裝置之獨特標記。在開機或喚醒程序成功後，電子裝置依據使用者指定的頻率更新密碼，將新密碼寫入至少一外部儲存裝置，再將新密碼透過使用者指定的方式通知使用者。
