Graphene Hydrogel Matrix for the Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells
- Technology Benefits
- Cell differentiation is significantly faster and more efficient in hydrogels than on monolayersVersatile matrix to study and to enhance differentiation of MSCs towards various cell types for regenerative therapies
- Technology Application
- Cell differentiation, tissue regeneration
- Detailed Technology Description
- Our inventors have synthesized a graphene-based hydrogel system that can support MSC survival and differentiation to mesenchyme. They have also determined that MSCs were able to differentiate better and significantly faster on hydrogels into chondrocytes, osteocytes and adipocytes when compared to monolayers. Graphene-based hydrogels can be utilized as a versatile matrix to study and enhance variation of MSCs into different cell types for the purpose of regenerative therapies.
