Capillary-Assisted Liquid-Vapor Separation and Flow Condensation EnhancementThis condensation enhancement invention uses a capillary-assisted two-phase separation to achieve a 70% increase in the heat transfer coefficient when compared to a conventional condenser. Also, the length of the capillary-enhanced condenser for complete condensation is shortened by about 28%. This product will enhance the heat transfer rate, and allow for smaller condensers on large power plants and possibly increase the efficiency of condensers that cool parts on automobiles or other devices such as electric motors.Potential Areas of Application• Power plants steam condensers• Air conditioners • Heat condensers Patent Status: Patent PendingInventor: Chanwoo ParkContact: Wayne McDaniel, mcdanielwc@missouri.edu or (573) 884-3302; Brian Matlock, matlockk@missouri.edu or (573) 882-8963
