In this invention, we demonstrate an experimental design of the whispering gallery mode (WGM) based on microsphere excited by capillary wall waveguide. The periodic WGM spectrum with splitting modes is observed with a high Q-factor of 105. The nature of omnibearing coupling structure shows advanced coupling efficiency for potential sensing and lasing applications. Commercial applications employing this device include chemical sensor, high efficiency lasing device, etc. The design is succinct and the fabrication is effortless. Also, the design is cost effective by using capillary, fiber and microsphere which are made of silica material.
