Developed at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), this patent-pending technology is an innovative method for testing water samples from different fractures or corresponding strata, helping to distinguish connectivity in the well network and aquifers. In addition, it can be used by the oil/gas industry to optimize recovery of hydrocarbons by providing experimental data for reservoir modeling and insight on dilution flow and saturated oil recovery (i.e., production rate estimates). It can also be used to determine if water flooding and/or surfactant/polymer additives are needed.
This fully automated, high-resolution approach minimizes human error and false identifications, while offering higher throughput without the need for added chemicals. Available for license, this invention can be used for testing of subterranean reservoirs, process aquifers, and marine surface waters.
