Partially-fluorinated ethers, compositions and uses thereof, for long-term tamponade in the eye
- Summary
- Lead Inventors: Janet SparrowA method of using single high-purity partially fluorinated ether liquids as a long-term tamponade agent is described.Tamponade agents are used to rectify the deficiencies of silicone and perfluorocarbon liquids. The eye tamponade agents can be left in the eye postoperatively for retinal reattachment and healing procedures due to their long-term compatibility.Tamponade agents that are heavier than water and lighter than perfluorocarbon liquids offer increased compatibility with the eye for long-term use.
