-
Dr. Pan from the University of IL has developed a rigid-cored polymeric nano-architecture and a lipid-encapsulated rigid-cored micelle for controlled delivery of melittin, a key component of bee venom. Experiments show how nanoscale chemistry influences the delivery of toxins for cancer regression while evading systemic disintegrity and cellular noxiousness. Dr. Pan's energy minimization, docking studies and other characterizations of these nano-structures explore melittin's anticancer activity and indicate the potential use of peptido-toxins for cancer treatment without the drawbacks of increased toxicity.
