Design and Fabrication of Miniature Fiber-Optic Temperature Sensors
- IP Title
- Design and Fabrication of Miniature Fiber-Optic Temperature Sensors
- Detailed Technology Description
- This disclosure presents the design and detailed fabrication process of novel miniature fiber-optic temperature sensors. When properly fabricated, these sensors have been field demonstrated well-suited for reliable temperature monitoring even in the harshest industrial environments. The compact millimeter to sub-millimeter size minimizes system invasion and the fiber-based structure maximizes flexibility for packaging and installation. Each single sensor can cover extremely wide range from deep sub-zero to beyond 3000 deg F with consistent sensitivity. Easy calibration and batch fabrication are inherent advantages of the sensor, as confirmed by experimental results.
