Detailed Technology Description: It has been shown that composites composed of Kevlar™ fabricreinforced by a shear thickening fluid (STF) offer equivalent low velocityballistic performance, on a per weight basis, to neat Kevlar™ fabric. Compared to neat Kevlar™ fabric, however, theSTF-impregnated composites require far fewer layers of Kevlar™, and result in amuch more flexible and less bulky body armor materials.
