- A brain ischemia monitor comprising a pair of optical fibers each having a fore end part which can be arranged generally perpendicularly tothe outer surface of a brain, a section connected with the root end part of oneoptical fiber and irradiating the outer surface of the brain with UV-raysthrough the one optical fiber, a light receiving section connected with theroot end part of the other optical fiber and receiving fluorescence emittedfrom brain cells excited with UV-rays through thatoptical fiber, and a display capable of displaying the intensity of thefluorescence.
