*Abstract
Currently, in vivo flow cytometry is one of the most common procedures used for the detection, sensing and counting of circulating cells. However, this technique is associated with possible limitations such as interrogation of only small blood vessels and blood volumes (~1 micro-liter of blood per minute), the potential escape of rare circulating cells (such as hematopoietic stem cells), and low sensitivity (with the lowest detection limit of about 10,000 cells). This invention discloses a novel device/system useful for effectively detecting, counting and imaging rare circulating cells in the blood stream non-invasively.
