ERE-MAR Cell Line (XVA2-luc)

Detailed Technology Description
None
*Abstract
The ERE-MAR, also known as MCF7-XVA2-Luc cell line is MCF-7 breast cancer cell line stably cotransfected with pSV-neomycin and an ERE-MAR-Luc reporter gene. ERE-MAR consists of the estrogen response element and matrix attachment region derived from the Xenopus vitellogenin A2 promoter region. The clone used in the publication, Jiang et.al., demonstrated a 30-35 fold estrogen induction as measured by luciferase activity. These cells were originally generated in order to study SAFB1 mediated effects on estrogen activity. However, they have been used for other estrogen regulators (see Peterson et.al. Mol. Cell. Biol. 2007).
