BackgroundSpectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) is an imaging technology capable of the simultaneous acquisition of structural and Doppler measurements in living tissue. Small Doppler signals originating in microscopic vessels may be easily missed upon visual inspection, and present a great challenge to automated detection. Regions of intense noise characteristic of areas void of tissue or vessels further impedes automated analysis of SD-OCT Doppler images.TechnologyThe subject invention is a robust automated image-processing algorithm for the identification of small sources of movement within SD-OCT Doppler images. Application1. Visualization of microscopic vessels in the eyeAdvantages1. First known technique to automatically detect and identify small sources of movement within Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) Doppler images.Stage of DevelopmentSoftware code written and successfully tested.Copyright
