This technology describes a technique to quickly and efficiently develop hardware blocks for physical layer encoding and decoding in an RFID system. The encoding is described at a high-level using a concept called waveform features and this is translated by our tool automatically into hardware encoding and decoding blocks. These blocks can be easily integrated into an RFID system that uses field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), low power complex programmable logic devices (CPLD), or discrete components.Applications:* Rapidly prototyping RFID tags* Could also be easily extended to production RFID readers which speak on one of many protocols, adaptable wireless systems, etc.Advantages:* Can significantly reduce hardware development and testing timesStage of Development: * A prototype system has been developed for translating waveform features into hardware with testing using various encodings.Copyright
