Injectable hydrogels may be useful as a delivery vehicle/scaffold for cell transplantation. The thermosensitive polymer hydrogel that has been developed is: 1) Injectable at low (e.g. room) temperature; 2) Capable of binding biomolecules such as collagen and other bioactive factors (e.g. growth factors, differentiation factors); 3) Highly flexible and relatively strong at body temperature for use in soft tissue engineering; 4) Characterized by an LCST lower than 37oC before degradation, such that it can form a gel at body temperature; and 5) Characterized by an LCST higher than 37oC after degradation, so that the degradation product can dissolve in the bodyΓÇÖs aqueous environment and be cleared.
