Summary

Conventional titanium dioxide (TiO2) coating is prone to scratches and is easy to delaminate through long time application, resulting in frequent needs for replacements. This is due to the fact that the TiO2 coating is often consisted of large aggregated particles with poor adhesion.

The present invention introduces a photocatalytic material that can convert VOC under ambient temperature. The nanostructured catalysts can be coated as an ultra-thin and scratching-proof layer. It can prevent the nanometer sized TiO2 particle from aggregation during coating. Thus, TiO2 scratching proof layer can be successfully prepared. The coating has a higher VOC degradation and germicidal properties as well.

The resulting catalysts can be used in a variety of applications, including but not only limited to air purifier and air handling appliances such as air conditioner and air exhaust.
