Bistable Twisted Nematic Liquid Crystal Displays with Twist Angle of !O 11 Degrees
- Summary
- A new class of bistable twisted nematic (BTN) displays is invented. Unlike the conventional BTN displays that only have zero twist or -90º twist, this new series of BTN displays can have many different twist angles. By controlling the conditions of the twist angles and the retardation of liquid crystal (LC) cell, the new technology optimizes optical properties of the LC cells such as contrast ratio, viewing brightness and viewing angle.
- Technology Benefits
- 1. True black and white operation
2. High contrast
3. Extremely wide viewing angles
4. Large cell gap
5. Easy to man
- Technology Application
- - Large size liquid crystal displays (LCDs) use in public area like airports, train stations, piers, etc.
