Diarylaminofluorene-Based Organometallic Phosphors and Organic Light-Emitting Devices Made with Such Compounds芴基芳胺有機金屬磷光材料及其有機電致發光器件

Summary

Interests in organic-based optoelectronic materials for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are growing tremendously since it is surely to be the important comprising elements for flat-panel display technologies in the future. Conventional OLEDs containing all-organic emissive materials are usually limited to an external quantum efficiency of around 5% based on single-state fluorescent materials. Therefore, phosphorescent metal complexes that can be incorporated into OLEDs are under active investigation for the potential of increasing the device efficiency.

New formulations are now invented for highly amorphous and phosphorescent organometallic complexes of iridium (III) and platinum (II) with diarylaminofluorene chromophores. The new method introduced can offer a good channel to lower the ionization potential, induce morphologically stable amorphous thin-film formation, and enhance the thermal stability of the complexes. These organometallic complexes show very high glass-transition temperatures while the metal phosphors emit a wide spectrum of colors at room temperature in both solution and the solid state, a high efficiency electrophorescent organic light-emitting devices can be fabricated.

This invention can be widely applied in the flat-panel display technologies in the next generation.
