Concha electrode for use in electrocochleography (ECochG)
- Summary
- The Concha Electrode can be used in audiology for ECochG procedures. It can record ABR and CM responses simultaneously using a simple and economical design. The current electrodes used for this purpose are inserted into the ear canal. This can be problematic and unpleasant for patients, particularly for infants. The concha electrode is gently attached to the outer ear, avoiding these problems. Working prototypes have been fabricated and tested in the clinic on healthy volunteers.
