Plasma Apparatus for Biological Decontamination and Sterilization
The atmospheric plasma is stable and self-sustaining in the region of the conductors and typically invisible to the naked eye except under low light conditions. The plasma sterilizes any contaminants surrounding the object it comes in contact with rendering it sterile multi-modally, through high heat, ionization and ultraviolet light. Thus, contaminates not sterilized by one method may be sterilized by another, unlike mono-modal systems. As the plasma is generated through electricity, if one were to touch an object contained within a plasma field they would receive a mild electric shock, but the low current power of micro-amps requirements result in safe low amperage fields. However, due to possible static shocks, our team envisions a device that contains this technology within a shielded container that can prevent such an incident from happening with various safety measures in place.
